How Librarian Yuu Became Librarian Yuu
Mar. 5th, 2012 09:06 pmKanda Yuu, commonly known as Librarian Yuu to his colleagues, had been brought to the Libraritorium first. At least, to his knowledge he was the first. He wasn't a child when he was first brought to the Libraritorium. He'd been an adult, a grown man, when he first arrived. He was alone as Librarian for a long time, nearly a decade. He knows the books and the Libraritorium better than anyone else, even the current Librarian, Lavi. In fact, he was the one who saw to it that most of the new comers got the proper introduction to the Libraritorium.
While he was Librarian, Lavi was brought to the Libraritorium. Despite their rough first meeting, he grew genuinely fond of Lavi. After a while, he began to help him navigate around the Libraritorium and it's books. He taught him about all the secret places there and which book sections to avoid. He explained what he knew and as he did, slowly giving his trust to him, the two grew closer.
That all changed when one of the victims of the Library trapped him inside a book out of frustration and anger. Unable to escape until he had managed to navigate his way through the story, Kanda spent decades inside the book of mazes and illusions, trying to defeat each and every trick. When he finally managed to escape from the book, he found to his horror that something had changed. Something very important. He was in a child-like body and he had no idea how to change back. Except on a whim of the Libraritorium, he is stuck, perhaps forever, in this new body.
Despite Lavi having spent over a century in the Libraritorium, Librarian Yuu still knows it better. He has a connection to the books; he can understand what they want, both from him and from their victims. He can't explain it and honestly, he's not all that interested in knowing why. Whys never mattered much to him. He will not, however, seek Lavi out or engage him in conversation. He's currently trying to avoid Lavi with all his might. The books, much to his dismay, don't seem to want to oblige him.
